The Cinematheque Reviews:
The American

Director Anton Corbijn.  Actor George Clooney.  A melancholy European malaise.  The gorgeous Italian starlet Violante Placido.  A 1970's Pakula-like sensibility.  One of the best ending scenes of any film this year.  A surprising antidote to the explosion-heavy action blockbusters of the summer.  Actor George Clooney (he needs to be mentioned twice - that's how good he is here).  The American.

Nice review. I really enjoyed Corbijn's work on Control - great visual style and strong sense of character and the dark side of the human condition. I will be checking this out.
